Lesson format: Face-to-face, in-person

Details

Availability: Tuesday and Thursday 12pm-4 pm
Lesson Frequency: twice a week
Lesson Duration: 1.5 hours
Current level: Intermediate
Native/other languages: Portuguese

Student’s language needs and goals: She would like her lessons to focus on listening comprehension strategies, everyday phrases used by native speakers, conversations in real-life contexts, safety and emergencies, job-related vocabulary, cultural norms around politeness, how schools function in the new country, visiting the doctor, texting, popular hobbies and interests, effective language learning strategies, making phone calls, and building friendships. She would like to have conversational classes that help her communicate more confidently with native speakers. She’s also interested in practicing for job interviews and improving her ability to express herself clearly in professional settings. Additional information: She is interested in physiotherapy and pilates.

Responsibilities

Design intensive lessons to accelerate English acquisition
Develop vocabulary and conversation skills
Incorporate cultural insights
Adapt the methodology to meet the students’ experience

Qualifications

Native or near-native proficiency in English
Certificate or degree in language teaching, linguistics, education, or related field
Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching adults, ideally in business contexts
Ability to create engaging, intensive lessons for fast progress
Experience tailoring methodology for highly motivated, experienced language learners
