• Location: Metairie, Louisiana – near Hector Avenue 

• Preferred start date: ASAP

• Lesson format: Face-to-face, in-person (Zoom not possible)

Details

• Availability: Wednesday, between 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

• Lesson Frequency: 1 time per week

• Lesson Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes 

• Current level: Complete Beginner

• Native/other languages: Spanish

• Goals:

  • Learn basic communication for daily life (school communication, doctor appointments)

  • Build essential vocabulary and listening comprehension

  • Improve pronunciation and understand local accents

  • Practice safety and emergency expressions

  • Gain confidence in conversations with native speakers

  • Learn about cultural aspects: how schools work, going to the doctor, making friends, business culture, phone calls, interviews, and presentations

Responsibilities

• Create structured beginner-level lessons with a focus on daily communication

• Incorporate practical vocabulary and real-life scenarios (school, doctor, emergencies)

• Build pronunciation, listening, and conversational confidence

• Introduce cultural adaptation topics relevant to life in the US

• Provide strategies and role-play practice for essential daily situations

Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in English

• Certificate or degree in language teaching, linguistics, education, or related field

• Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience with adult beginners

• Ability to create practical, engaging, and culturally relevant lessons

• Experience supporting students in adapting to a new country is an asset
